I’d Do It All Again, Corinne Bailey Rae, The Sea [2010]
Someone to love
It’s bigger than your pride’s worth
It’s bigger than the pain you got for all it hurts
It outruns all of the sadness
Is there a fine line to the darkness
Listen to this record immediately—it’s heargasmic. Oh Corinne, I have missed you so.

Goodbye, by Asobi Seksu
Disappointingly, their music is a lot less shoegazey than I thought it would be.
Roomie and I are going to see obscure band Asobi Seksu (for the twenty indie hipsters who just started protesting that they’re actually totally famous and well-known, please shut up) tomorrow night at The Loft. Their music is categorized as Dream Pop with influences from the Shoegazing genre, which Wikipedia informs me is “indistinguishable vocal melodies” blended with “creative noise of the guitars.” In summary, I’m going to have to see them high.

Stop What You’re Doing And Watch The Hell Out Of This of the Day: UC Berkeley’s Noteworthy perform Lady Gaga’s “Poker Face” at the 9th Annual West Coast A Cappella Showcase.
If they didn’t win there is no God.

DEAR MSJ KIDS: Please watch this. I won’t say why because the “why” will smack you in the face.

Monster, Lady Gaga, The Fame Monster [2009]
I asked my girlfriend if she’d seen you round before
She mumbled something while we got down on the floor baby
We might’ve fucked not really sure, don’t quite recall
But something tells me that I’ve seen him, yeah
So I think Lady Gaga is just a coutured-up version of Madonna+Christina Aguilara, with only half the charisma, but you just can’t deny the fact that her songs are freaking catchy,

There is a very distinct chance that I will be in New York early Winter Break to visit the boyfriend and vacation a bit. If I’m lucky, I’ll be able to attend Z100’s Jingle Ball 2009 at Madison Square Garden. Tickets are scarce, but it’s worth to search as the lineup includes John Mayer(!!!), Taylor Swift, The Fray, and Owl City, alongside with Justin Bieber, Jordan Sparks, Kris Allen, Boys Like Girls, Pitbull, and Jay Sean.
Also worth celebrating: John Mayer’s Battle Studies was released today. Let’s guess what I’m going to be audio-abusing all weekend! (It’s fine because I have a roommate who admits to getting wet at just seeing John Mayer.)

Back To You, John Mayer, Room for Squares [2001]
I’m so good at forgetting
And I quit every game I’ve played
But forgive me love
I can’t turn and walk away
My roommate Val is obsessed with John Mayer. Like, she buys his CDs obsessed. One of our favorite in-jokes is about how she got wet (yes, that kind of wet) at one of his concerts. It was right after he debuted his newly shaved head, and she was, well, a fan.

Justin Nozuka at UCSD’s Porter’s Pub
When: November 24th at 8:00 PM (Doors Open at 7:30)
Where: UCSD’s Porter’s Pub
Tickets: $10 Undergrad, $15 General Public
I love Justin Nozuka and was really disappointed to have missed his show last year. I’m going to try to get tickets early this year and make it this time. I’d like to think of him as Jason Mraz meets rough-edge voice and awesome hair (though not in this picture). Check out my previous post for a sample of his music.
